the last minutes
The last minutes of any session are always my favorite. The clients have warmed to me, the light is falling, and I reach the height of my creative mood. Bella and Peter sat in the car while I took their parents for some couple photos and while I worked, I glanced back at them several times, playing together and the more I did the more I remembered when I was a little kid, playing in the car with my little brother. I remember my former thoughts about the magic of driving and how in awe of the powerful adult world I once was. I empathized with those two Harmon babies and wished they could stay small and in awe.
The light was perfect and as I walked over to the car, readying my camera, I hoped the kids would ignore me. I hoped that the site of my camera wouldn't cue poses and camera smiles. I wanted to get them as they were. Luck was on my side, and with bedtime coming they couldn't have cared less about me or my camera. And that made my day.
The Harmon Family
I love this family. Ben was one of my best friends in high school and he was lucky enough to meet and marry Becca, a woman who every time I get to spend time with her , I know that their match is right. Becca is beautiful and Ben knows it, Ben is a catch and Becca knows it.
Their little Harmon kids are dreamboats. Bella, when I asked what she knows how to do, told me, "I can stand on one foot, ride a bike..." and Peter likes wolves, foxes and his binky. Needless to say warm Fall afternoons spent with friends make for the best photos. Wouldn't you say?

The Dyches Family
What a session! These images were collected over the course of two very enjoyable hours. Kelly is a graphic designer and she knows what it feels like to work and visualize, rework and be inspired. From the very beginning to the very end of our time together Kelly lifted me. She lifted with compliments and feedback, with ideas and enthusiasm. She lifted me with her example as she treated her two darling girls and husband with patience and love. She lifted me with her enormous smile and genuine energy. I really love my clients. Thank you Kelly for being you and inviting me to capture your family.

Paige & Mike- Married!
As the sun lifted itself over Mount Timpanogos Mike took Paige’s hand and they promised to love, forever. It was an enormous compliment to be invited to document such an intimate and personal ceremony. The decision for small and personal allowed a focus on the vows, the light, and the way they looked at each other and made their promises. Thank you, my new friends, for entrusting me to be a part of your big day- it was my honor.
I am getting the distinct impression that you like the slide shows I have been putting together. Aren’t they great? The music, the moving images... Click HERE for Paige & Mike’s.
*Many thanks to the fabulous Kiera for working with me as my second shooter.
